Beauty is an integral and essential part of our Catholic liturgy. It is indeed a gift from God, as St. Augustine points out. When a church’s beauty is allowed to wither, the liturgical experience suffers. It is time for us to restore some of the beauty and luster to our church with the restoration of all marble and terrazzo surfaces, and the Infant of Prague and Our Lady of Fatima shrines. Dysfunctional or missing interior door closers will be rebuilt or replaced with like-kind closers. We hope to purchase all new matching votive candle stands.
It has been well over 30 years since the interior of the Church was last painted. We will paint the main body of the Church interior and refinish the confessionals and wooden sanctuary furnishings and doors to match the color of the pews which were refinished 12 years ago.
The tiled portion of the Church roof is past its useful life expectancy. Whenever it rains, we experience leaks. In the past, we have patched up sections – now it is time for permanent repair. The existing roof tiles will be removed, a new underlayment will be applied, and the existing roof tiles will be reinstalled. Flashing, rain gutters, and drains will be repaired or replaced as needed for the tiled portion of the roof.
The stained glass windows in the Church illuminate our worship space. Depending on the time of day, the effect of the sunlight can be quite remarkable. The windows need repairs/restoration to eliminate leaks and damage, and thorough cleaning to return them to their original luster.
A security fence will be installed between the front of the parish hall and the front of the school building. We would also like to make repairs to the rectory plumbing.
The lighting system inside our church needs to be upgraded. We will clean, repair, and restore as needed, and upgrade our light fixtures with LED bulbs, modules, or custom retrofits. All exposed live-stream and audio/video wiring will be rerouted out of sight. All stations of the cross will be illuminated as specified in the original church plans. The electrical wiring for this was put in place when the church was built, but the light fixtures themselves were never fabricated or installed.
