Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
These are exciting times for the Church in Southern California! Archbishop Gomez has called us all to a period of renewal — a renewal of not only our resources, but a spiritual renewal as well. I am pleased to announce the launch of our parish’s Called to Renew campaign. This historic effort will provide much-needed funding for parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, including ours, as well as strengthen important ministries and programs that affect us all.
Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. Our goal is $845,000, of which 50 percent will remain at our parish. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect over our goal. If our campaign is successful, we will receive a minimum of $422,500 to address our own needs.
While our goal is above and beyond what we normally raise for St. Luke the Evangelist, our community is worthy of this incredible investment. Future generations will see this dedication to our parish’s legacy as an example to follow.
St. Luke the Evangelist has a rich history in Temple City. Called to Renew will ensure we can continue to be a vital presence in our community. Details about how we plan to use our share of campaign funds are on the following page.
Please take a moment to prayerfully discern how you can most generously support this campaign. I also encourage you to consider making a five-year pledge, which will allow us the best opportunity to reach our goal. This is a wonderful parish, and I am amazed at how our community always works together to meet needs that arise. I know you will do whatever you can to make this campaign a success.
We entrust this campaign to the intercessions of our Blessed Mother and our patron, St. Luke the Evangelist.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.

Parish Needs
School Roof
The roofs on the lower and upper school buildings are past their useful life expectancy. We need to replace the entire roof on both buildings.
School Restrooms
The school restrooms are original to the building. We need to renovate the restrooms by installing more energy-efficient, and water-saving fixtures.
Church Improvements
During the pandemic, we painted the exterior of the church, now we need to paint the interior. We will also update the sound system, replace the worn and loose carpeting and update the roof and lighting in the church.
Parish Hall
The flooring in the Parish Hall is beginning to show its age. We will replace the flooring in this much used community space. It is also time to replace the roof.
Campus Security and Safety
Several years ago, we installed security cameras in the school. It proved to be a wise investment. We would like to expand the security cameras throughout the campus. In addition, we will convert the entire campus to a key card entry system. This will allow us to issue one-day cards for ministry meetings. We also need to purchase fire-proof cabinets to secure sensitive records.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
