Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
These days more people are returning to in person attendance for mass and new arrivals are also joining our St. Jerome Parish community. We are blessed by those who have helped make St. Jerome such a welcoming community. This is an opportunity for personal and parish renewal.
I am excited and grateful to say that Archbishop Gomez has called us to launch the Called to Renew campaign at St. Jerome. I invite you to consider God’s many blessings in your life, our parish, and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. This campaign will enable us to help provide much-needed funding for parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, including ours.
Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. Our goal is $1,020,000 of which 50 percent will remain at our parish. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect over our goal. If our campaign is successful, we will receive a minimum of $510,000 to address our own needs.
Please take a moment to read the following page and see how Called to Renew will benefit St. Jerome’s and how we will use our share of campaign funds. I then ask you to prayerfully consider a five-year pledge to the campaign, which will allow us the best opportunity to reach our goal.
This is a wonderful parish, and I am grateful at how our community has always worked together to meet needs that arise. I know you will do whatever you can to make this campaign a success. We entrust our Called to Renew campaign to the intercession of our Blessed Mother, St. Peter Claver and our patron, St. Jerome.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.

Parish Needs
Church Pews
The pews in the Church have received much use and are showing their age. Some of our Church pews are in need of repair. The wood needs to be refinished. Several kneelers are damaged or broken. We will refurbish the pews and fix the kneelers to provide a more comfortable worship space for all.
Outside Lighting
Our outside church lights are gradually falling apart and some we are unable to turn on consistently. For safety and security, we need to replace our outside lights around the church and add additional parking lot lighting.
Sound System
During Mass we celebrate the Liturgy of the Word, and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Sometimes it is difficult to hear either part of the Mass due to the inferior quality of our sound system. We will upgrade our sound system to improve the quality of sound during Mass. The microphones will also be updated.
Stained Glass Window Protective Glass
You may not know that our beautiful stained-glass windows at the main entrance of our church sustained major damage by vandals about a year and a half-ago. Thankfully we were able to get the smashed and cracked panes replaced. Our stained-glass panels over our other doors already have some protection but our largest and most beautiful window does not. We would like to protect this treasure for all those who come to St. Jerome Church.
Replace The Church’s Four Main Front Doors
These doors can no longer be repaired as the 1960’s hardware for their closers are no longer made. We need doors which are easier to open and safely close.
Additional Perimeter Fencing
For security and safety reasons it would be prudent to make our church property more secure.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
