Dear Friends in Christ,

Our community has joined together as a parish family to meet the challenges of the past year. With your help and generosity, St. Francis of Assisi has continued to provide guidance and comfort to many of our brothers and sisters during these difficult times.

We must now take stock of the many blessings for which we have to be grateful. Your family has likely celebrated many rites of passage at St. Francis of Assisi, such as Baptisms and first Communions. You may have exchanged wedding vows or said goodbye to loved ones in your spiritual home. Given the vital role our parish plays throughout our lives, we must reflect on what we want to leave future generations of Catholics — perhaps your children and grandchildren — at St. Francis of Assisi.

Archbishop Gomez has called us all to a period of renewal, not only of our resources, but also spiritually. I am pleased to announce the launch of St. Francis of Assisi’s Called to Renew campaign and invite you to consider God’s many blessings in your life and in our parish. This effort will provide much-needed funding for parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, including ours.

Each parish has a campaign goal. Our goal is $265,000, of which 50 percent will remain in our parish as well as 100 percent of the funds we raise above our goal. I invite you to take a moment to read the following page and learn how Called to Renew will benefit St. Francis of Assisi and how we will use these funds. This is a wonderful faith community, and I am blessed to be your pastor. I know you will do everything you can to ensure this campaign is a success.

Your support is immensely important to our parish, and our hope is that St. Francis of Assisi can continue to play an important role in your life as well.
