Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
These are exciting times for the Church in southern California. Archbishop Gomez has called us to renewal — not only a renewal of resources, but a spiritual renewal as well. I am pleased to announce San Antonio de Padua Parish’s participation in the Called to Renew campaign. This historic effort will provide much-needed funding for parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, including ours.
Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. The goal for our parish is $90,000. Fifty percent of the funds we raise up to this goal will remain with our parish, as well as 100 percent of the funds we collect over our goal. If we are successful, we will keep $45,000 to address our own needs. San Antonio de Padua has a rich history in Boyle Heights. Called to Renew will allow us to continue to be a vital presence in our community. You will find more details about how we plan to use our share of campaign funds on the following page.
As your pastor, I invite you to take a moment in prayer to discern how you can best support this campaign. I also encourage you to consider making a pledge for a five-year period, which will allow us the best opportunity to reach our goal. This is a wonderful parish and faith community, and I am very fortunate to be your pastor. I know that you will do whatever you can to make this campaign a success.
We entrust this campaign to the intercessions of our Blessed Mother and our patron, San Antonio de Padua.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.

Parish Needs
New Church Tower
Although our parish serves as a beacon of hope in the middle of Boyle
Heights, our building can be hard to recognize as a church. Adding a small,
simple tower with a cross atop a pointed roof will clearly distinguish our
church for all passersby.
Church & School Painting
Many years have passed since our church and school last received a fresh
coat of paint. Painting the exterior of both buildings as well as the interior of
the school will restore the beauty of our church and school, and the religious
education and meeting rooms.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
