Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
As an active and faith-filled parishioner, you are aware of the many blessings we must be grateful for at Our Lady of Peace Parish. Your family has likely celebrated many rites of passage here, such as Baptism and first Communion. You may have exchanged wedding vows in our church or bid farewell to a loved one in the comfort of your spiritual home. Truly, our parish plays a vital role throughout our lives.
It is with immense joy and heartfelt gratitude that I announce the launch of Called to Renew at Our Lady of Peace Parish. This campaign will provide much-needed funding for parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, including ours, as well as strengthen important ministries and programs that affect us all.
Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. Our goal is $925,000 of which 50 percent will remain at our parish. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect over our goal. If our campaign is successful, we will receive a minimum of $462,500. to address our own needs.
Our Lady of Peace Parish has a rich history in North Hills (formerly Sepulveda) in the San Fernando Valley. Called to Renew will ensure we can continue to be a vital presence in our community. Details about how we plan to use our share of campaign funds are on the following page.
Please take a moment to prayerfully discern how you can most generously support this campaign. I also encourage you to consider making a five-year pledge, which will allow us the best opportunity to reach our goal. This is a wonderful parish, and I am amazed at how our community has always worked together to meet needs that arise. I know you will do whatever you can to make this campaign a success.
We entrust our Called to Renew campaign to the intercessions of our Blessed Mother Mary.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.
Our Parish Receives
$462,500
To renew our parish and strengthen ministries.
Parish Needs
Roofing
$200,000
The roof on the Convent, Chapel, and School is past its useful life expectancy. From time to time, we experience leaks. Up until now we have made do by patching up sections. We can no longer put off the effectible. We will replace the roof which keep further damage from happening.
Air Conditioning & Heating
$150,000
Depending on the time of year, the temperature in the church can get uncomfortable. Our Church was built at a time when indoor cooling/heating was not common. We will improve or install a new HVAC system to help moderate the temperature in the church to make our worship experience more comfortable. We will also have major repairs of the air conditioning in the parish hall.
Rectory Improvement
$30,000
The residence of our priests that was built so many years ago does not have insulated walls and windows. We will use part of the Called to Renew funds to add wall insulation and replace all the windows. Aside from saving on electricity, it will minimize noise from the street traffic and will allow our priests to rest and sleep comfortably. The old and uneven flooring in the bedrooms will also be replaced.
Parking Lot
$82,500
The parking lot is the first thing people see when they come on campus. It leaves a lot to be desired. We will use part of our Called to Renew funds to fill in the potholes and cracks, as well as completely resurface the parking lot. This will create a more welcoming and safer environment.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
