Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
It is with great joy and hope that I announce our combined parishes taking part in the Archdiocesan Capital Campaign: Called to Renew.Over the last number of years, every parish in the Archdiocese has been asked to take part, and this is our opportunity to do so. The idea for this Archdiocesan Campaign came about after Archbishop Gomez instructed that every parish and school of the Archdiocese be inspected by Structural Engineers. Many of the buildings that the Archdiocese depends on for her ministries are in need of serious repairs. The includes Asbestos abatement, water main repairs, roofs, parking lots, and countless other general repairs.
Each parish has been asked to reach a particular goal. The goal for Holy Redeemer and St. James is $1,475,000, to be pledged over the next five years. 50% or $737,500 of all funds raised, from the first dollar, will be used for the needs of our community. If we raise more than our goal, 100% of that will stay here in the parish.
Our parishes have a rich history in the local area. Taking part in this Campaign will enable us to continue this fine legacy. Details about how we plan to use our share of the campaign funds can be found on the following page.
Please take a moment to prayerfully discern how you can support our parish and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. I encourage you to consider making a five-year pledge, which will help us succeed in this campaign.
Even though I have only been here a few months, I took part in Called to Renew in my previous parish. I can attest to you that all monies raised are being used exactly as advertised. This is a wonderful community. I know that we can take part in this campaign for the good of our parishes and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.
Our Parish Receives
$665,000
To renew our parish and strengthen ministries.
Parish Needs
Outside Hospitality Area at Holy Redeemer
$125,000
Our Church is beautiful. However, we lack a shaded hospitality area where community members can socialize after mass. The creation of this shaded area, with electrical access and tables, will allow us to develop the social needs of the parish.
New Church Flooring and Painting at St. James the Less
$125,000
Our Church is beautiful. However, the flooring needs to be replaced, and the Church needs to be painted. These funds will enable us to take care of the basic physical needs of our church building.
Technology fund for Holy Redeemer / St. James the Less School
$150,000
Our school has a long and proud history of Catholic Education. This fund will allow the school to keep up with current technology so that the students can access the most modern technologies available for learning. Updating the technology will help the school, its students, and the local community for years to come.
Parking Lot Repairs & Improvements
$187,500
The parking lots need to be taken care of through re-striping space lines, adding a slurry seal, or a complete asphalt replacement are very costly. This reserve fund will help us when it comes to give the parking lots the care and attention they need.
Fund for Religious Education, Confirmation, and Youth Ministry
$150,000
Our Religious Education programs are wonderful. This program is not only for Sacramental preparation; but also includes continuing faith formation and youth ministry. This fund will provide Scholarships for those unable to pay fees and improve our faith formation and youth ministry, attempting to engage the next generation of the faithful in the mission of the Church to “go out and teach all nations.”
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
