Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
It is with great joy and heartfelt gratitude that I announce the launch of St. Bernadette Parish’s campaign in conjunction with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ Called to Renew effort. This campaign will provide much-needed funding for parishes throughout the Archdiocese, including ours.
Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. Our goal is $785,000, of which 67 percent will remain at St. Bernadette. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect over our goal. If our campaign is successful, we will have $525,000 to address our own needs.
St. Bernadette has a rich history of service in Baldwin Hills and southwest Los Angeles. Called to Renew will allow us to continue to be a vital presence in our community by helping us to address some of our most pressing capital issues. You will find details about our campaign on the following page, which I encourage you to read.
As your parish life director, I invite you to take time in prayer to discern how you can best support this campaign. I also ask you to consider making a five-year pledge, which will allow us the best opportunity to reach our goal.
St. Bernadette is a wonderful faith community, and I know that you will do whatever you can to make this campaign a success.
We entrust this campaign to the intercessions of our Blessed Mother Mary and our patron, St. Bernadette.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.

Parish Needs
Parking Lot
We will repave the existing parking lot as
well as add additional spaces in the lower
lot near Marlton Avenue —while keeping
the beautiful trees. This project will provide
much needed additional parking in close
proximity to the hall entrance for visitors and
residents of the convent.
Church Air Conditioning & Heating
Many of us have suffered through Mass
on a hot, August Saturday evening.
Installing a new HVAC system will provide
proper climate control for our sanctuary,
benefiting existing parishioners and
providing a more comfortable worship
space for new parishioners.
St. Bernadette Convent
Our heavily used convent has never received
more than basic maintenance. Renovating
this building will be a first step toward future
repurposing of the structure into office space or
a religious education facility.
Pews and Kneelers
Our nearly 60-year-old pews and
kneelers can no longer be repaired.
Replacing them will increase the safety
and comfort of our parishioners and
guests.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
