Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
As an active and faith-filled parishioner, you are aware of the many blessings we have to be grateful for at St. Peter Claver. Your family has likely celebrated many rites of passage here, such as Baptism and first Communion. You may have exchanged wedding vows in our church or bid farewell to a loved one in the comfort of your spiritual home. Truly, our parish plays a vital role throughout our lives. But have you ever stopped to reflect on who is responsible for all we enjoy and use today?
Just as we now benefit from the generosity of those who came before us, we, too, are “called to renew” our Church to ensure future generations can encounter Christ.
I am pleased to announce the launch of our parish’s Called to Renew campaign and invite you to consider God’s many blessings in your life, our parish, and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. Our goal is $855,000, of which 50 percent will remain at our parish. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect over our goal. In other words, if our campaign is successful, we will receive a minimum of $427,500 to address our own needs.
Please take a moment to read on the following page how Called to Renew will benefit St. Peter Claver, and how we will use our share of campaign funds. I then ask you to prayerfully consider a five-year pledge to the campaign, which will allow us the best opportunity to reach our goal.
I realize this request is significant but trust your commitment to our parish, the Simi Valley community, and our Catholic faith will guide you to make a sacrificial gift. Called to Renew is essential to ensuring our Church is vibrant and healthy, and our parish remains a presence in the lives of parishioners and the community for years to come. I hope you will join me in supporting this historic campaign.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.
Our Parish Receives
$427,500
To renew our parish and strengthen ministries.
Parish Needs
Audio-Visual Systems
Our sound systems are outdated, with the system in the hall dating back to its construction in 1972. Many parishioners report difficulty hearing during Mass, events, and meetings. Installing new sound systems in the church and the hall will ensure all able to participate fully in our liturgies and gatherings. We will also install a projector and retractable screen in the hall for the presentation of visual materials.
Gathering Space
Our parish lacks an outdoor space for gathering after Mass and during events. Installing a kiosk with a covered pavilion, semi-permanent outdoor seating, and lighting will allow us to have a welcoming space for use during the day and evening hours, in all types of weather.
Pews
After many years of use, the seating in our church is showing signs of wear and tear. Refurbishing the pews and kneelers and replacing the padding on the chairs will make our worship more comfortable.
Parish Kitchen
Installed in 1973, the hall’s kitchen no longer accommodates the needs of our parish. Renovating the kitchen with a more functional layout and new appliances will bring it up to code and allow us to offer greater hospitality for years to come.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
