Dear Friends in Christ,

These are exciting times for the Church in Southern California! Archbishop Gomez has called us to a period of renewal— a renewal of not only our resources, but a spiritual renewal as well. I am pleased to announce our parish’s participation in the Called to Renew campaign. This historic effort will provide much-needed funding for parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, including St. Matthias.

Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. Our goal is $405,000, of which 50 percent will remain at our parish. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect over our goal. In other words, if our campaign is successful, we will receive a minimum of $202,500 to address our parish’s own needs.

Called to Renew offers us a wonderful opportunity to come together as an Archdiocesan family, in union with our brothers and sisters from hundreds of parishes in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties. Our parish knows the challenge of constantly renewing and maintaining our facilities, and each of our sister parishes face this same challenge. On the following page, you will find more information about how we plan to use our share of campaign funds at St. Matthias.

I invite you to take a moment to prayerfully discern how you can most generously support this campaign. I also encourage you to consider making a five-year pledge, which will allow us the best opportunity to reach our goal. This is a wonderful community of faith, and I feel very fortunate to be your pastor. I am confident you will do whatever you can to ensure the success of our campaign.

We entrust our campaign to the intercessions of our Blessed Mother and our patron, St. Matthias.
