Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
It is with deep gratitude and joy that I announce the launch of Called to Renew at St. Mary. This campaign will provide much-needed funding for parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, including ours, as well as strengthen important ministries and programs that impact us all.
Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. Our goal is $260,000, of which 50 percent will remain at our parish. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect over our goal. In other words, if our campaign is successful, we will receive a minimum of $130,000 to address our own needs.
The fifth oldest parish in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, we have served Boyle Heights since 1897. Called to Renew will strengthen our mission of evangelization by providing the funds to help us care for our beautiful church. We will be able to complete several projects that will benefit parishioners and friends of our community. More details on how we plan to use our share of campaign funds are on the next page.
I invite you to pray and discern the ways in which you can support this campaign. Your contribution can be made over a period of five years.
St. Mary is a community of faith where the joy of Christ’s love is present. I know I have felt very fortunate for all the signs of affection and generosity you have shown me during my time here as pastor. I pray for you, imploring the intercession of Mary Help of Christians and Don Bosco, trusting that under their guidance, this campaign will be a success for both our parish and the Archdiocese.
I thank you in advance for your love and generosity.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.

Parish Needs
Restrooms
The restrooms in our church are integral to the comfort of those who worship with us. Upgrading and remodeling these restrooms will also make them accessible to everyone in our community.
Roofing
The church roof has now exceeded its life expectancy and repairing sections is no longer cost-efficient. Replacing the roof will prevent future damage to our worship space.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
