Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
In 1951, when a handful of families sacrificed to establish St. Mariana de Paredes Parish, they also blessed us with a legacy to build upon and celebrate. Through the years, many of you have celebrated sacramental events here, building your family’s faith foundation through Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, and Marriage. Some of you may have celebrated the life of a loved one who passed on to eternal life. Our parish is our second home and our spiritual home.
I am pleased to announce the launch of the Called to Renew campaign alongside every parish in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and ask God to bless this ambitious effort. Our campaign will allow us to address the needs of the St. Mariana de Paredes Parish and St. Marianne School community, and our success will ensure future generations may continue to joyfully gather here for worship, prayer, and faith.
The goal for our campaign is $1.4 million, of which $457,500 will be directed to the local Church in Los Angeles to serve the vulnerable in ministries supporting the sick, the dying, and crime victims. These shared funds will also be used to support priestly vocations and to invest in the faith formation of future generations. We will retain any amount we collect over our goal for the sole use of St. Mariana de Paredes.
I realize this request is significant, but I trust your commitment to our parish and our Catholic faith will guide you to make a sincere gift from your heart. Please take time to prayerfully discern how you can most generously support this campaign, especially by making a pledge payable over five years. This is a wonderful parish, and I am always in awe of how our community works together to meet needs that arise. Father Miguel and I will participate in this effort, and I am confident you will also do your part to ensure this campaign is a success.

Parish Needs
Increased Security for School and Church
Installing security fencing, closed-circuit security entrances, and a solar-powered back gate will secure our school campus, and blackout window coverings in classrooms will provide additional safety. To secure the rest of the property, we will increase security camera coverage and improve lighting.
Liturgical Enhancements
Remodeling the sanctuary with a built-in baptismal font, upgrading and replacing the fluorescent tube lighting fixtures, adding air conditioning to the chapel, and either repairing or replacing the organ will benefit our liturgical celebrations for many years.
Restroom and Kitchen Upgrades
Renovating the public restrooms in the church and parish hall will make them more comfortable, accessible, and family friendly. We will also upgrade the restroom facilities in the rectory and parish center, add a new full bathroom in the rectory, and update the rectory kitchen with new cabinet doors, countertops, a sink, flooring, and appliances.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
