Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
In 1965, when a handful of families sacrificed to establish St. John Vianney, they also blessed us with a legacy to build upon and celebrate. Through God’s grace, we have grown from a small faith community into a welcoming parish of 1,560 families. Just as we now benefit from the generosity of those who came before us, we, too, are called to renew our Church to ensure future generations can worship and encounter Christ.
I am pleased to announce the launch of our parish’s Called to Renew campaign alongside every parish in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and ask God to bless this ambitious effort. This historic effort will provide much-needed funding for parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, including ours, as well as strengthen important ministries and programs that affect us all. The goal for our campaign is $1,700,000 of which 50 percent will remain at our parish to address our needs and the remaining percentage will address needs in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. In addition, we will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect over our goal.
Please take a moment to read the following page(s) and see how Called to Renew will benefit St. John Vianney, how we will use our 50 percent share of campaign funds and how the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, will use the remaining percentage. I then ask you to prayerfully consider a five-year pledge to the campaign, which will allow us the best opportunity to reach our goal.
I realize this request is significant and I am confident that your commitment to our parish, the San Gabriel community, and our Catholic faith will guide you to make a sacrificial gift. Called to Renew is essential to ensuring our church is vibrant and healthy, and our parish remains a presence in the lives of parishioners and the community for years to come. I hope you will join me in supporting this historic campaign.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.

Parish Needs
Parish Buildings Renovations
It is time for us to restore some of the beauty and luster to our parish buildings with new plumbing throughout the Rectory to prevent future leaks. Adding solar system, replacing some walls with sound-proof removable walls to create larger meeting space in the O’Callaghan Center. Renovating Dolan Hall bathrooms to make ADA compliant.
Project for Religious Education
Religious education is an important part of our parish community. We want to support Religious Education by installing HVAC units in classrooms, upgrading the electrical capacity and fire alarm system, and adding new white boards and ceiling projectors to all classrooms.
Residential Home(s)
The Genesis House is an important part of our church as it is where transitional homes are located. Our goal is to add additional 1-2 residential home(s) on property to increase transitional home capacity.
Plant Signage System
It is important for our church to be as beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside. We want to restore some of the exterior beauty of our church by installing a plant signage system.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
