Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
Archbishop Gomez has called the Catholic communities of Southern California to a renewal through the Called to Renew campaign. This call is not only for the renewal of our resources, but also of our spirit. This historic effort will provide much-needed funding for parishes throughout the Archdiocese, and will directly benefit our parish, St. Francis Korean Catholic Center.
St. Francis began as a small community of only a few families and, with God’s grace, grew into the spiritual home we know today. We have created a space where generations of parishioners come to share blessings and memories, serve those in need, and spread the Word of Jesus Christ to one another and to our neighbors.
Today, in the spirit of new beginning, let us pray for His glory and blessings on the Called to Renew campaign, that through this effort, our parish may continue to flourish and provide a place of worship to our parishioners.
Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. The goal for our parish is $600,000, of which 50 percent will remain at our parish. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect over our goal. In other words, if we are successful, we will receive a minimum of $300,000 to address the needs of our parish. Details about how we plan to use our share of campaign funds are on the following page.
Please take a moment to prayerfully discern how you can most generously support this campaign. I also encourage you to consider making a five-year pledge, which will allow us the best opportunity to reach our goal. I know you will do whatever you can to make this campaign a success.
We entrust this campaign to the intercessions of St. Francis and our
Blessed Mother.

Parish Needs
Church Interior Renovations
Beauty is integral to our Catholic liturgy. According to St. Augustine, when a church’s beauty is allowed to wither, the liturgy experience suffers. Installing new carpeting and lighting will help restore our church’s beauty and enhance our worship.
Roofing
The roof on our building has passed its useful life expectancy, and we have put off the inevitable by patching sections. Replacing the roof will prevent further damage.
Youth Ministry
Pope Francis has placed great importance on the need to strengthen ministries to youth and young adults, as these are the ages when many leave the Church. Providing more dynamic events, such as spiritual retreats and fellowship activities, as well as participating in local and global Catholic conferences will enhance our youth group.
Ministry to the Sick, Old, and Dying
The Gospel has the power to transform lives, and in Christ, true healing is possible. Ministering to those who are suffering allows us to reflect on our role as Catholics and participate in the renewal of families and our community.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
