Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
Archbishop Gomez has called upon the Catholic communities of Southern California to renewal. Through the Called to Renew capital campaign, this call is not only for the renewal of resources, but also of spirit. This historic effort will provide much-needed funding for parishes throughout the Archdiocese, and will directly benefit our parish, St. Francis Korean Catholic Center.
St. Francis began as a small community of few families, and with God’s grace, grew to be the spiritual home we know today. We have built a space where generations of parishioners come to share blessings and memories, serve those in need, and spread the words of Jesus Christ to one another and to our neighbors.
Today, in the spirit of new beginning, let us pray for His glory and blessings on the Called to Renew campaign, that through this effort, our parish may continue to flourish and provide a place of worship to our parishioners.
Each parish is given a goal for the campaign. The goal for our parish is $600,000. Fifty percent of all funds raised up to the goal will stay with us, meaning that $300,000 will be raised to address the needs of our parish. If we surpass our goal, 100% of funds collected over the goal will remain with our parish. You will find more details about how we plan to use our funds on the following page.
As your pastor, I invite you to take a moment in prayer to discern how best you can support this campaign. I also encourage you to consider making a pledge for a five-year period. This will allow us the best opportunity to reach our goal. I know that you will do whatever you can to make this campaign a success.
We entrust this campaign to the intercessions of St. Francis and Our Blessed Mother.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.
Our Parish Receives
To renew our parish and strengthen ministries.
Church Interior Renovations
Beauty is an integral and essential part of our Catholic liturgy. It is indeed a gift from God, as St. Augustine points out. When a church’s beauty is allowed to wither, the liturgy experience suffers. It is time for us to replace cafeteria floor surface, toilet repair, kitchen upgrade, electric installation and lighting will help make safe environment and enhance our worship.
The roof on our building is past its useful life expectancy. Up until now we have made do by patching up sections. We will keep maintenance the roof to keep further damage from happening every year.
Pope Francis has placed great importance on the need for better youth and young adult ministry, as this is the age when many leave the Church. Our Youth Group is strong, but we can make it better by providing more dynamic events such as spiritual retreats and fellowship activities as well as partake in the local and global Catholic conferences. We need to hire music director and supplement musical/audio instruments.
Ministry to the Sick, Old, and Dying
The Gospel has the power to transform lives, and in Christ, true healing is possible. As we reflect on our role as Catholics, we are called to participate in the renewal of families and our community by ministering to those who are suffering. Support program and operating personals.
