Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
As an active and faith-filled parishioner, there are many blessings to be grateful for here at St. Catherine of Siena. Your family has likely celebrated many rites of passage here, such as Baptism and First Communion. You may have exchanged wedding vows in our church or bid farewell to a loved one in the comfort of your spiritual home. Truly, our parish plays a vital role throughout our lives.
But have you ever stopped to reflect on who is responsible for building and maintaining all the facilities we enjoy and use today?
Just as we now benefit from the generosity of those who came before us, we, too, are called to renew our Church to ensure future generations can worship here and encounter Christ.
I am pleased to announce the launch of our parish’s Called to Renew campaign and invite you to consider God’s many blessings in your life, our parish, and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. Our goal is $725,000, 50 percent of which will remain at our parish. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect beyond our goal. If our campaign is successful, we will receive a minimum of $362,500 to address our own needs.
Please take a moment to read the following page and see how Called to Renew will benefit St. Catherine of Siena, and how we will use our share of campaign funds. I then ask you to prayerfully consider a five-year pledge to the campaign, which will allow us the best opportunity to reach our goal.
I realize this request is significant but trust your commitment to our parish, the community of the San Fernando Valley, and our Catholic faith will guide you to make a generous gift. Called to Renew is essential to ensuring our church is vibrant and healthy, and our parish remains a presence in the lives of parishioners and the community for years to come. I hope you will join me in supporting this historic campaign.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.

Parish Needs
Church Roof
The roof of the Church is past its useful life expectancy. This is evident every time it rains and portions of the roof start to leak. We have made do by patching up sections, but it’s time to properly replace the roof and prevent further damage and potential accidents from happening.
Lighting
The lighting in the Church is uneven in certain sections. To address this issue, we will convert to LED lighting. LED lighting, in addition to being more energy-efficient and long-lasting, is easier to control and focus in a particular direction and the light is more evenly distributed.
Air Conditioning & Heating
Our current cooling system was installed in the late 1960’s and it’s becoming more and more difficult to find replacement parts; and thus, becoming increasingly difficult to maintain. In addition, the technology of the 1960’s is much less efficient and requires more electricity to run while, at the same time, not being very capable of cooling, especially with the extreme temperatures we are experiencing in this day and age. Therefore, we intend to use a portion of the funds to install a new HVAC system to help better moderate the temperature in the church to make our worship experience more comfortable in a more efficient and responsible manner.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
