Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
As an active and faith-filled parishioner, you are aware of the many blessings we have to be grateful for at St. Brendan Church and School. Your family has likely celebrated many rites of passage here, such as Baptism and first Communion. You may have exchanged wedding vows in our church or bid farewell to a loved one in the comfort of your spiritual home. I know that St. Brendan Church and School has had a tremendous impact on my family for three generations, especially through Sacraments of Initiation and of Marriage.I myself celebrated my very first Mass as priest at that very altar. So you know, our parish plays a vital role throughout our lives.
But have you ever stopped to reflect on who is responsible for all we enjoy and use today?
Just as we now benefit from the generosity of those who came before us, we, too, are called to renew our Church to ensure future generations can worship and encounter Christ.
I am pleased to announce the launch of our parish’s Called to Renew campaign and invite you to consider God’s many blessings in your life, our parish, and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. Our goal is $880,000, of which 50 percent will remain at our parish. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect above our goal. If our campaign is successful, we will receive a minimum of $440,000 to address our own needs.
Please take a moment to read the following page and see how Called to Renew will benefit St. Brendan Parish, and how we will use our share of campaign funds. I then ask you to prayerfully consider a five-year pledge to the campaign, which will allow us the best opportunity to reach our goal.
Thank you for your generosity and your presence in our community. Please be assured of my prayers for you and your family, and I kindly ask to please pray for me and the success of St. Brendan Church and School.
May the Lord bless you and keep you close to His Sacred Heart.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.

Parish Needs
Lighting
As you are aware, we have had issues with the electrical panel, which prevents us from using the lights at the back of the Church. We need to address this issue and update the Church’s lighting. Updating the lighting will significantly enhance the beauty of our Church.
Roof
The Church roof needs repairs to protect the Church buildings and parishioners. Inclement weather has damaged the structure, and the roof has many leaks due to the aging conditions of the century-old Church buildings. Also, the panels of the 30-year skylight have fallen off its track, and in some locations, the track itself has been broken. We also seek to make repairs there to keep the beautification of our Church.
Faith Formation
Handing on the faith to our young people is one of our primary responsibilities. What good is it to invest in buildings if no one is inside? Finding new and engaging ways to pass on the faith and form true disciples is the goal. We must invest in resources such as bibles, books, and other teaching resources. This includes technology as well as investing in guest speakers and retreats.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
