Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
Blessings to you! We are in exciting times as a faith community in Southern California! Our Archbishop Jose Gomez has called us all to a period of renewal — a renewal of our spiritual life and our resources. In response to this invitation, I am pleased to announce the launch of our Parish’s Called to Renew campaign. This historic effort will provide much-needed funding for parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, including ours, and strengthen essential ministries and programs that affect us.
Through God’s grace, we have grown from the initial small faith community into a large welcoming parish of vibrant, active, and dynamic parishioners of all ages. We are passionate about our faith, excel in service, and are dedicated to sharing the Good News as they connect us with Christ, one another, and those in need.
We are now launching the Called to Renew campaign alongside every Parish in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and ask God to bless this ambitious effort. Our campaign will allow us to address the needs of our Parish, ensuring future generations of parishioners may continue to gather, worship, and create lasting friendships.
The goal for our campaign is $1,500,000 of which $1,000,000 will remain with us at our Parish to address our needs. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect over our goal.
I am asking you, and every member of our Parish, to make a gift from the heart. As your pastor and fellow parishioner, I will also make a sacrificial pledge. Before you determine your pledge, please prayerfully consider the generosity God has shown you, and the importance of the mission we have been given at St. Barnabas Church.
I realize this request is significant but trust your commitment to our Parish, and our Catholic faith will guide you to make a sacrificial gift. Called to Renew is essential to ensuring our church is vibrant and healthy, and our Parish remains a presence in the lives of parishioners and the community for years to come. I hope you will join me in supporting this historic campaign.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.

Parish Needs
Church Interior Renovations
Beauty is an integral and essential part of our Catholic liturgy, and it is indeed a gift from God, as St. Augustine points out. When a church’s beauty is allowed to wither, the liturgy experience suffers. It is time for us to restore some of the beauty and luster to our Church with a new Baptismal font and repair the Terrazzo flooring of the Church. The Baptismal font of the Church is currently out of order due to leaks that have caused the wall behind it to deteriorate badly.
Church Pews & Kneelers
The pews in the Church get used a lot and are beginning to show their age. Many of the pews need repair work, and several pews are cracking. We will refurbish the pews and fix the kneelers [or install new pews and kneelers] to provide a more comfortable worship space for all. We will also update the pew upholstery.
Tabernacle
The Tabernacle in our Church has been present for a very long time and desperately needs complete refurbishment. We will refurbish and bring back the Tabernacle to its original condition.
Choir Loft
The Choir loft flooring is old and worn out from years of use. We will refurbish the flooring and renovate the area to make it more usable.
Seed Money
The Rectory and the Church office are old and falling apart. We are developing a master plan to have a total renovation/rebuild of the Rectory to have modern office spaces, ministry meeting rooms, and better priest residences. The surplus money from this Called to Renew Campaign will be used to serve this purpose.
Church Organ
Our Church is one of the few churches in the area to have a full-fledged organ. Unfortunately, it has not been repaired or serviced in the past decade. We will bring the organ to its original glory to enhance our Church’s liturgy with some beautiful music.
Sacristy Refurbishment
Our Church sacristy is old; many of the drawers and cupboards are falling apart, and the floor needs to be replaced. We will restore all the cabinets and cupboards in the Sacristy to better serve their purpose.
Roofing Repairs
The roof on the Church, Hall, and Rectory are experiencing leaks. We need to fix them both inside and outside, and we will do that as soon as possible.
Faith Formation
We strive to provide life-long learning opportunities for our families. We will invest a portion of our funds to provide enhanced faith formation opportunities for families to deepen their encounters with Christ.
Youth Ministry
Pope Francis has placed great importance on the need for better youth and young adult ministry, as this is the age when many leave the Church. Our youth are an essential part of our faith community, and preparing them to engage them in the various ministries is a crucial mission of our parish. We are investing in building a strong Youth Ministry in our parish.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
