Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
As an active and faith-filled parishioner who regularly attends the Parish of San Miguel, you are aware of the many blessings for which we have to be grateful. Your family has likely celebrated many rites of passage here, such as Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation. You may have received God’s blessing during the Sacrament of Marriage or bid farewell to a loved one in the comfort of your spiritual home. Truly, our parish plays a fundamental role throughout our lives.
But have you ever stopped to reflect on who, in 1927, began building all we enjoy and use today — this temple, the rectory, the convent, and the hall?
Just as we now benefit from the generosity of those who once celebrated and lived their faith here, we, too, are called to renew our Church so future generations can worship and meet God and celebrate Mass.
I am delighted to inform you that our parish is joining with all of the parishes of our Archdiocese to launch the Called to Renew campaign. I invite you to consider the many blessings that, throughout our lives, we receive from God through this and all Catholic parishes.
Our goal is $145,000, of which 50 percent ($72,500) will remain at our parish to address our own needs. We will also retain 100 percent of what we collect over our goal.
I invite you to take a moment and read the following page carefully and learn how Called to Renew will benefit our parish and how we will use our share of campaign funds.
In order to achieve our goal, I ask you, through prayer and discernment, to consider how you can support this campaign with a promise to be paid in five years. This campaign is essential to ensuring our Church is strong, and our parish remains an important presence in the life of the community for years to come.
I hope you will join me in supporting Called to Renew.

Parish Needs
Church Windows and Air Conditioning
Repairing the HVAC system and installing new energy-efficient windows designed to reflect the sun will help to moderate the temperature in the church, improving our worship experience.
Church Renovations
Beauty is a fundamental and essential part of our Catholic liturgy. As St. Augustine states, it is in fact, a gift from God. When the beauty of the church deteriorates, the liturgy also suffers. Although our church needs many renovations, repairing the roof, painting the interior, and replacing the electrical system to comply with city code will address the most urgent issues.
Rectory Renovations
Our rectory has not received more than basic maintenance for the last 20 years. Installing a new air conditioning system, repairing the leaks in the roof, and replacing the windows will make this space more energy efficient. We will also replace the aging plumbing, which has ruptured during past earthquakes.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
