Dear Friends in Christ,

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Rom 15:13).

It is with immense joy and heartfelt gratitude that I announce the launch of Called to Renew at Our Mother of Good Counsel Parish. This capital campaign will provide much-needed funding for parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, including ours, as well as strengthen important ministries and programs that affect us all.

Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. Our goal is $570,000, of which 50 percent will remain at our parish. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we raise over our goal. If our campaign is successful, we will receive a minimum of $285,000 to address our own needs.

Our Mother of Good Counsel has a rich history in the Los Feliz area. In 1925, when a handful of families sacrificed to establish our parish, they also blessed us with a legacy to build upon and celebrate. Through God’s grace, we have grown into a welcoming parish of nearly 1,300 families, and Called to Renew will ensure we can continue to be a vital presence in our community. Details about how we plan to use our share of campaign funds are on the following page.

Please take a moment to prayerfully discern how you can most generously support this campaign. I also encourage you to consider making a five-year pledge, which will allow us the best opportunity to reach our goal. As your pastor, a member of our community of Augustinian brother priests, and a fellow parishioner, I will also make a sacrificial pledge. This is a wonderful parish, and I am amazed at how our community has always worked together to meet needs that arise. I know you will do whatever you can to make this campaign a success.

We entrust our Called to Renew efforts to the prayers of our patroness, the Blessed Mother Mary, Our Mother of Good Counsel, as well as Blessed St. Joseph, St. Rita and St. Augustine.

Church Restrooms

Remodeling the church restrooms with new plumbing and fixtures will not only update these spaces, but also make them accessible for all parishioners.

School and Church Phone System

Upgrading the landline phone system for our school classrooms and offices, as well as the parish offices, will allow us to better communicate with our parish and school communities.

St. Augustine Multipurpose Center

Updating the parish hall and school gymnasium will ensure these important gathering spaces continue to encourage community among our parish and school groups and ministries. We will upgrade the sound system and install video screens.
