Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
These are exciting times for the Church in Southern California! Archbishop Gomez has called us all to a period of renewal — a renewal of not only our resources, but a spiritual renewal as well. I am pleased to announce the launch of our parish’s Called to Renew campaign. This historic effort will provide much-needed funding for parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, including ours, as well as strengthen important ministries and programs that affect us all.
Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. Our goal is $860,000, of which $280,000 will be designated to the Archdiocese. After the Archdiocese receives its portion of the campaign funds, our parish will receive the remainder of what is raised. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect over our goal.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel has a rich history in Santa Barbara. Called to Renew will ensure we can continue to be a vital presence in our community. Details about how we plan to use our share of campaign funds are on the following page.
Please take a moment to prayerfully discern how you can most generously support this campaign. I also encourage you to consider making a five-year pledge, which willallow us the best opportunity to reach our goal. This is a wonderful parish, and I am amazed at how our community always works together to meet needs that arise. I know you will do whatever you can to make this campaign a success.
We entrust this campaign to the intercession of our Blessed Mother, Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.

Parish Needs
Church Interior Renovations
According to St. Augustine, when a church’s beauty is allowed to wither, the liturgy experience suffers. Restoring the reredos, repainting the interior, refurbishing the pews, and cleaning the decor will restore the beauty of our worship space.
Church Exterior Painting
It has been many years since the exterior of the church was painted. Repainting the church will protect it for years to come so future generations may rejoice in its spectacular beauty.
Parish Hall Remodeling
Many parishioners would like to grow the social aspect of our parish and get to know one another better. Sprucing up the parish hall by painting the interior, re-staining the floor, adding a room divider, remodeling the kitchen, and buying new chairs will make the space more inviting for meetings and events.
Parish School Projects
The school is one of parish’s most important ministries. Replacing the deteriorating windows with double-pane windows will help reduce road noise and keep classrooms cooler. We will also replace the classroom flooring, which is falling apart and becoming a trip hazard.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
