Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
In 1905, when a handful of families sacrificed to establish Our Lady of Loretto Parish, they also blessed us with a legacy to build upon and celebrate.
Over the years, parishioners of Our Lady of Loretto have continually worked to extend their hands in service to all people and to celebrate and protect the richness of diversity so important in our Church. We pride ourselves as being the only parish in the Our Lady of the Angels Pastoral Region offering Mass in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese, as well as Tagalog when the need arises.
Just as we now benefit from the generosity of those who came before us, we, too, are “called to renew” our Church to ensure future generations can worship and encounter Christ and create lasting friendships.
We are now launching Called to Renew alongside every parish in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and ask God to bless this ambitious effort. This campaign will allow us to address the needs of parishioners and Our Lady of Loretto, ensuring our steadfast presence in the lives of future generations, particularly those in the Historic Filipinotown district of Los Angeles.
The goal for our campaign is $540,000, of which 67 percent will remain at our parish to address the needs detailed on the following page. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect over our goal.
While our goal is above and beyond what we normally raise for Our Lady of Loretto, our community is worthy of this incredible investment. I am asking you, and every member of our parish, to make a gift from the heart. In turn, I, as your pastor and fellow parishioner, will also make a sacrificial pledge. Future generations will look back on our dedication to our parish’s legacy as an example to follow.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.

Parish Needs
Sound System
The outdated sound system emits squeaking and bursting sounds, which can be frightening, and, at times, radio transmitter interference either distracts parishioners or prevents them from hearing the Word of God. Installing a new sound system will ensure all are able to participate during Mass.
Church Interior
Beauty abounds in our Catholic liturgy, yet the interior of the church lacks an attractive and inviting atmosphere. Painting will allow us to identify mold damage and insect infestation, as well as eliminate discoloration, smudges, and unsightly stains, enhancing our worship space and enriching our worship experience.
Air Conditioning and Heating
The heating system no longer efficiently moderates the temperature in the church during the winter months. Installing a new HVAC system will also allow us to add air conditioning, making our worship experience more comfortable year-round.
Youth Ministry
Our parish lacks a youth ministry program. Pope Francis has called on us all to enhance faith formation opportunities during the critical teenage years. Establishing a youth ministry program will ensure we are engaging the next generation of our Church.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine
A new shrine to Our Lady of Guadalupe is needed and will be situated in front of the wall adjacent to the bell tower on Union Avenue, in an area away from traffic that provides ample space for small gatherings of up to 20 people. Building a new Our Lady of Guadalupe shrine will allow our parish to continue to be a sanctuary of hope and refuge for parishioners and all who seek comfort.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
