Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
I am pleased to announce the launch of the Called to Renew campaign at Our Lady of Lourdes in conjunction with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Called to Renew is not just about resources or infrastructures — it is a spiritual renewal as well. This campaign is meant to benefit Archdiocesan programs and help parishes throughout the Archdiocese, including Our Lady of Lourdes.
Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. The goal for our parish is $1,060,000, of which 68 percent ($715,000) will directly benefit our parish. Furthermore, 100 percent of the funds we raise beyond our goal will remain with our parish.
As we approach Our Lady of Lourdes’ centenary, we are very much aware of the legacy of those who built our parish, not just the brick and mortar but certainly as a community of faith. Much has happened in the past five years, but with less than two years until our centennial celebration, much still needs to be accomplished. Called to Renew will help us with this.
Over the next weeks and months, we will host a series of gatherings with our campaign team to share more details about our campaign and answer questions. It is important for every parishioner to know the facts. I may also ask to meet with you individually to discern with you how your support can transform our parish.
We will say our campaign prayer together frequently , and I also ask that you keep this prayer in your heart because it is in prayer that we find God’s graces and blessings. As Sacred Scriptures says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, in vain will the builders labor” (Psalm 127:1). Your prayers, generosity, and sacrifice will ensure our success.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.
Our Parish Receives
$715,000
To renew our parish and strengthen ministries.
Parish Needs
Church Interior and Exterior
Updating our church will improve our worship
experience. Slated renovations include
replacing the sound and HVAC systems,
improving the facade, doors, windows, and
outdoor safety lighting, reinforcing the tower
with the cross, and upgrading the church
marquee.
Parish Hall and Parking Lot
Updating the parish hall kitchen, repairing the
HVAC and refurbishing the function rooms
will make the parish hall a more welcoming
place for our community. Repairing and then
resurfacing the parking lot will improve the
safety of parishioners and visitors and increase
its visual appeal.
School Auditorium
Refurbishing the facade of the junior high’s
circa-1951 auditorium, as well as updating,
replacing, or improving the doors, windows and
curtains, and HVAC and plumbing systems will
increase energy efficiency and bring the building
into this millennium
Evangelization and Faith Formation
Expanding and enhancing faith formation
opportunities for our families, children, youth,
and adults will deepen their encounters with
Christ.
Childhood Educational Center
Establishing an early childhood educational center at Our Lady of Lourdes School will better
support our community. This will require addressing the schools infrastructure needs and necessary
improvements and repairs, supporting initial steps in establishing a center, and ensuring the school’s
future financial viability.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
