Our community is excited to participate alongside all parishes, missions and Catholic centers in the Archdiocese to strengthen and renew our Church for the future. Please continue reading to learn how this campaign will benefit us.
In 1923, under the direction of Bishop John Cantwell, Father Montanari and a handful of families sacrificed to build a church and establish Nativity Parish. With God’s grace and blessing, this small faith community has grown to include more than 2,500 families.
Together, we have created a warm, generous, and vibrant parish and school community where people of all cultures and ages can grow in faith, serve others, and share the Good News. We continue to water and fertilize the seeds the generations before us sowed, and build upon the foundations they laid. This legacy that blesses us and generations to come, is especially important as we look toward our centennial anniversary in 2023.
We are now launching Called to Renew alongside every parish in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and ask God to bless this bold effort. Our campaign will allow us to address the needs of our parish community, ensuring future generations may continue to gather, worship, and create enduring friendships, beautiful memories, and lasting blessings.
Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. Our goal is $600,000, of which 50 percent will remain at our parish to address the needs detailed on the following page. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect over our goal. The other 50 percent will allow the Archdiocese to provide much-needed funding for deferred parish repairs and ministries and programs that affect us all.
To be successful, I am asking you, and every member of our parish, to make a gift from the heart. In turn, I, as your pastor and fellow parishioner, will also make a sacrificial pledge. Before you determine your pledge, please prayerfully consider the generosity God has shown you, and the importance of the mission Christ has entrusted to us here at Nativity.
Pledged over 5 years for the Called to Renew Campaign.

Parish Needs
Pews & Kneelers
After years of use, our pews are worn and the padding is in poor condition. Refurbishing the pews and kneelers will make our worship experience more comfortable.
Church Flooring
Our church flooring is “holey” from the sanctuary kneelers that dated back to before the Second Vatican Council. Replacing the flooring with terrazzo or tile will beautify our worship space.
Shrine of Saints and Sacred Art
Our church interior is a blank canvas waiting to be decorated. Constructing a shrine of saints on the left side of the altar, in place of the unused confessional, will create a space to pray and contemplate. We will also add sacred art illustrating the story of the Nativity along the walls of the church to enrich our environment and worship.
Centennial Celebrations
Our parish’s centennial is in 2023. Dedicating campaign funds for the preparation, programming, souvenirs, and celebration of our centennial will continue to strengthen our bond as a faith community and create beautiful memories as we give thanks to God for the blessings through the years.
A Bold Plan of Renewal
We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
