Parish Needs

Resealing

The Cathedral is made of concrete, which needs to be resealed with a protective coating every eight years to ensure its stability and protect it from damage — both man-made and natural. This is an extensive, but extremely critical project.

Liturgical Items

Due to daily wear and use, the liturgical items used in the celebration of liturgies at the Cathedral are now in need of replacing. This includes sacred vessels, vestments, server albs and choir robes. Due to the scale of the Cathedral, the size of our liturgies and the number of liturgies we celebrate each year, the handling and usage of these items exceeds the norm.

Reconciliation Chapel

Our Reconciliation Chapel, which parishioners, visitors and pilgrims use to prepare and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, is in need of enhancing. We would like to add liturgical artwork depicting the mercy and forgiveness of Jesus.

Communications

To better serve both the local and archdiocesan communities, we need to expand our communication capabilities. We hope to enhance our digital communications by improving our website, increasing our social media presence and updating our online platforms. We would also like to add video signage throughout the Cathedral site to provide a more welcoming and informative environment.

Tapestry Of Our Lady of The Angels

We are currently in the process of designing and executing a tapestry with the image of Our Lady of the Angels for placement in the main sanctuary of the Cathedral. This tapestry will serve as a gentle and loving reminder that the Cathedral was named in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

A Bold Plan of Renewal

We — the Catholic faithful — are the agents of renewal for Church and society. I am grateful for this opportunity to walk alongside clergy and parishioners in strengthening our parishes and ministries, the heart of our Archdiocese.
