Most Churches in our Archdiocese were built more than 50 years ago. Overtime, many buildings have fallen into disrepair. In 2018, the Archdiocese launched a remarkable campaign entitled Called to Renew which seeks to secure funds to renew or renovate much of the deferred maintenance that the Sunday collections do not cover.

I am sure you have seen many a bulletin where a parish posts their weekly collection as this much and their expenses as so much more. What suffers in the end are the physical buildings that our ancestors have built and without due care will not be preserved for our children. So yes, this campaign is truly needed. 

Every parish in the Archdiocese will participate in the campaign including St. Vitus. The goal for our campaign is $1,000,000, of which $312,500 will go to support poor parishes and the other needs outlined in the brochure. Everything we raise over and above will remain right here with our parish.

Truth be said, we need to fundraise to purchase a large permanent church and campus. A few years ago, we had the Founder’s Campaign. These generous Founders raised the money to get our parish established and to purchase our current church. Many people donated to the building fund, but the fact is that we need to all pitch in and start another campaign if we ever want to get out from under this tent! Called to Renew is a perfect opportunity for us to start a much-needed campaign.

If we were to engage a fundraising company to run a campaign, the cost will be quite similar if not more than $300,000. What would otherwise be a fundraising fee will help other parishes and the Archdiocese, while we can use the Called to Renew fundraising framework for our own campaign. It’s a win-win!
