Dear Friends in Christ,

It is with immense joy and heartfelt gratitude that I announce the launch of Called to Renew at St. Matthew Korean Catholic Center. This campaign will provide much-needed funding for parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, including ours, as well as strengthen important ministries and programs that affect us all.

Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. Our goal is $180,000 of which 50% will remain at our parish. We will also retain 100% of the funds we collect over our goal. If our campaign is successful, we will receive a minimum of $90,000 to address our own needs.

St. Matthew Korean Catholic Center has a rich history in Sunland, Tujunga, La Canada. Called to Renew will ensure we can continue to be a vital presence in our community. Details about how we plan to use our share of campaign funds are on the following page.

Please take a moment to prayerfully discern how you can most generously support this campaign. I also encourage you to consider making a five-year pledge, which will allow us the best opportunity to reach our goal. This is a wonderful parish, and I am amazed at how our community has always worked together to meet needs that arise. I know you will do whatever you can to make this campaign a success.

We entrust our Called to Renew campaign to the intercessions of our Blessed Mother and our patron, St. Matthew.

Parish Needs

Glass Windows Replacement

Estimated Cost: more than $40,000
The windows in the Church illuminate our worship space by allowing the beauty of sunlight to come. Depending on the time of the day, the effect of the sunlight can be quite remarkable. However, our windows are broken, the frames are corroded, and they need replacement.

Church Bell Tower Replacement

Estimated Cost: more than $30,000
Our church bell tower, which houses a steeple and belfry, was installed many years ago; We have experienced an ongoing problem of leaks into the chapel through the tower during rainy seasons, causing significant structural damage. We have made numerous temporary repairs up until now. However, we need to take immediate action to replace the bell tower.

Storage Replacement

Estimated Cost: $15,000
The storage adjacent to the stairs to the upper-level parking and the education building is severely infested and damaged by termites. To ensure our supplies’ safe and more extended storage, we need to take imminent action to replace the storage.

Painting the Church

Estimated Cost: $10,000
It has been many years since the Church’s exterior was last painted. Due to heavy rains, winds, and changes in the temperature, the paint on many areas is peeled off and deteriorated. Proceeds from the campaign will be used to paint the Church.
