Dear Friends in Christ,

It is with immense joy and heartfelt gratitude that I announce the launch of Called to Renew at Cathedral Chapel of St. Vibiana. This campaign was scheduled to begin in our parish in 2020 but was canceled due to the pandemic. We are now re-launching the campaign alongside every parish in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and ask God to bless this ambitious effort. Our campaign will allow us to address the needs of our parish, ensuring future generations of parishioners may continue to gather, worship, and create lasting friendships.

Each parish has been given a goal for the campaign. Our goal is $335,000 of which 50 percent will remain at our parish. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect over our goal. If our campaign is successful, we will receive a minimum of $167,500 to address our own needs.

Cathedral Chapel of St. Vibiana has a rich history in Los Angeles. Our parish was built in 1927 to serve as a temporary chapel, intended to be adjacent to the future cathedral. History had other plans, which served to make Cathedral Chapel a permanent structure. Since the opening of this church building, it has undergone four major renovations that have taken place. And in the year 2012, after the completion of its fourth and most extensive renovation, our parish on its 85th anniversary, celebrated the long last consecration of its church building by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, Most Rev. Jose Gomez.

This year, on December 25th, Cathedral Chapel of St. Vibiana will celebrate its 95th year of faith, education and service to our community. It is with my utmost gratitude that as your new pastor, I will have the opportunity to celebrate this great milestone in our parish with you all. 

Called to Renew will ensure we can continue to be a vital presence in our community for many years to come. Details about how we plan to use our share of campaign funds are on the following page.

Please take a moment to prayerfully discern how you can most generously support this campaign. I also encourage you to consider making a five-year pledge, which will allow us the best opportunity to reach our goal. This is a wonderful parish, and I am amazed to learn from its history, at how our community has always worked together to meet needs that arise. I am asking you, and every member of this parish, to make a gift from the heart and do whatever you can to make this campaign a success.

We entrust our Called to Renew campaign to the intercessions of our Blessed Mother and our patron, St. Vibiana.
